Do you know a Lyme literate doctor in my area?
No, I do not.

Here is why I have no recommendations and how I have been able to address this important question:

I invited Lyme literate physicians to include their contact information in a Directory of Lyme Literate Doctors. Each one graciously declined.

Why?

The physicians who are Lyme literate work long hours caring for their patients and already have long waiting lists of people who want treatment. They can not handle the deluge of phone calls that would come from being included in such a Directory.

In brief to find a Lyme literate physician somewhere in your area -- you can do an internet search on “Lyme Disease Associations + your metropolitan area”.

I am not able to state whether or not your symptoms in fact do indicate Lyme disease.

Here is why I am unable to do so and what I have been able to do to address this important question:

Additionally, non-medical personnel are limited in their abilities to respond to individual questions. However, the law -- under freedom of speech -- does allow non-medical personnel to share information relating to their own experiences.

I am not able to decipher the test results your doctor gives you.

Here is why I am unable to decipher test results and what I have been able to do to address this important question.

Keep in mind that by law physicians are not allowed to answer such questions over the telephone, via email – or in any way other than in person. Additionally, non-medical personnel are limited in their abilities to respond to individual questions. However, the law -- under freedom of speech -- does allow non-medical personnel to share information relating to their own experiences.

Be sure to ask you doctor to decipher the test results he/she gave you.

If you are suffering from “brain fog” and are unable to understand what your physician says – be sure to ask someone to attend your doctor’s appointments with you.

The person without “brain fog” who goes with you can ask questions and take notes for you.

"What about alternative treatments – coral calcium – colloidal silver – Rife machine?"

I too looked for alternative treatments and tried many. Each one seemed to help me feel better for a short period of time. None brought wellness.

Here is what I learned along the way.

There are no uniform production standards for alternative treatments and unfortunately there are undesirable surprises associated with some alternative treatments over the long haul. Examples follow:

Some patients who take colloidal silver end up with heavy metal toxicity as a result of taking it. This toxicity must then be addressed during Lyme treatment for the patient to feel better.

Some patients who take coral calcium end up adding a load of new bacterium into their already weak body. These bacterium must be addressed during Lyme treatment for the patient to feel better.

Rife machine was created to help with cancer treatment. This is a significantly different process from identifying and treating bacterium and viruses associated with Lyme disease and Lyme-related co-infections.

When talking with your Lyme literate physician, he/she may be able to direct you to laboratories that can test the purity of your alternative treatment and help protect you from unintended repercussions from unexpected impurities.

"If you care why do you charge?"

“Lyme rage” is a seemingly uncontrollable anger that goes along with Lyme disease.

When Lyme patients are overwhelmed by Lyme rage, the frustration of being able to find help, and the fears associated with the thought of spending the rest of life being held captive by Lyme – they lose a sense of perspective; start to feel a sense of entitlement; and begin to think “I am sick. Everyone should help me for free.” This kind of attitude will only serve to prolong finding the help you so desperately need.

Remember, there are costs associated with gathering, developing, and distributing
information to people who want to heal from Lyme disease. Like the fees charged
by the Lyme Associations and the fees charged by physicians – the fees we charge serve to defer those costs and help us expand our outreach. Such as the costs of meeting with physicians for accuracy of our articles and ebooks; costs of layout, format and content editors and transcribers’ associated with our articles and updating our ebooks; ongoing costs of creating, hosting, and maintaining a website to mention a few.

TheLymeLady.com continues to operate—even though we operate at a loss.

Why? Because, of a deep desire to get this important information to as many patients and physicians as possible. If/when there is a profit a significant portion of those monies will go to the Lyme Associations who need help in getting the word out.

Many Lyme patients, myself included, spend a lot of money and many years of life in search of healing. I spent well over $250,000 in search of a solution to my symptoms of Lyme disease. Then, spent 2 years virtually bed ridden with treatment – with no income. I know what it's like to deal with Lyme and be financially and physically strapped.
